Football4Profit: News: Tennis- Nadal Takes Over

Tennis will see a new dominion established as Roger Federer loses his spot as the number one player in the world to Rafael Nadal. The sports bookmaker Sky Bet has opened up a few specials to mark the event. Not only did Nadal walk away from the Beijing Olympics as a medalist, but he knew he’d take the world by storm when he achieved the semi-finals in Cincinnati, when his total ranking point accumulation surpassed Federer’s. At that point, Nadal was required to wait an additional two weeks before he was able to meet and defeat Federer, due to an oddity in this year’s ATP schedule around the Olympics. Nadal has risen from 40th place since Federer was first ranked as #1 in the world – on Feburary 2, 2004. He has held the position for a record 237 consecutive weeks. Sky Bet is offering a 20/1 bet that Nadal is able to beat that record. Another special has him at 8/11 to lost eh top spot before the 2009 US Open- and he is at evens to hold it until then. Finally, Sky Bert has a 20/1 wager that Nadal is able to achieve a Grand Slam in 2009 by winning all of 4 events- the French Open, the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open.
