Football4Profit: News- Injuries

Champions’ League teams Manchester United and Barcelona have suffered injuries this week, rendering a couple of their key players unable to play in the upcoming months. For Manchester, Michael Carrick- midfielder for the team- has been put on the injured list since his right foot was broken during their game against Liverpool. The injury will prevent the 27-year old from participating in the UEFA Champions’ League opening game against Villareal this Wednesday. They will also be without Paul Scholes through the opening Group E fixture due to suspension. They may, however, be getting back Cristiano Ronaldo earlier than expected, as the Portuguese winger is rapidly recovering from surgery on his ankle. He may be able to play in the game versus against the Spanish runners-up.

Meanwhile, Barcelona has lost the use of Belarussian international Aleksandr Hleb. The midfielder suffered a twisted ankle during the team’s match against Racing Santander, which resulted in a 1-1 tie. The injury will keep the 27-year old out of commission for three to four weeks, according to trainers and medical staff. Shortly before the period, Hleb was tackled by Santander’s Pablo Pinillos, and it was obvious how much pain he was in. He was promptly taken of the field, and Andres Iniesta took his place. The injury will keep Hleb off the field for the UEFA Champions’ League Group C opener to take place on Tuesday. They are scheduled to play Sporting Lisbon. Depending on his recovery, he may also be out for their trip to Shakhtar Donetsk on the first of October for the Matchday 2 game.
