Football4Profit: News- Injuries

As the opening matches for World Cup 2010 qualifiers are completed, more players are having their names added to the injury lists, to the dismay of their countries. Italy and Romania both lost key players this week, though Holland got a treat when Arjen Robben declared himself fit for game play. The winger for Real Madrid has taken himself off the disabled list just in time for the club’s match against Macedonia. He’d been in rehab for a calf strain. The meet up will occur at Macedonia, who took a victory away from Scotland last week with a final score of 1-0. The Netherlands will be looking to win in order to recover from their 2-1 loss to Australia.

Taking his place in the ‘hurt’ category will be Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso for Italy. His wrist injury sustained during training will keep him out of their World Cup qualifier against Georgia. In addition, Fabio Grosso of Lyon and Alessandro Gamberini of team Fiorentina will be out for the match, having sustained injuries at the beginning of the Group 8 opener against Cyprus. Marcello Lippi, coach, has yet to replace the two; Grosso suffered 2 broken ribs, and Gamberini  injured his shoulder.

Finally we check in on Romanis, who also have accrued a long list of injured players early on in the season. Daniel Niculae and Ciprian Marica were the two newest additions; the two forwards were hurt just before the club’s trip to the Faroe Islands. A strained muscle in his right leg is Niculae’s ailment, while Marica will stay on the bench due to a damaging hit to this right thigh. Gabriel Tamas is not looking good to play either, also injured. Romania suffered a disappointing loss to Lithuania in their Group 7 opener- not surprising considering their disabled list includes Cristian Chivu, Ovidiu Petre, Adrian Mutu, Razvan Rat and Banel Nicolita.
