Football4Profit: News- Injuries

The English Premier League has both a significant injury- plaguing Chelsea specifically, as well as an interesting event this week, a banning. We begin with that which doesn’t happen often, as midfielder Joey Barton was banned on the basis of attacking formal teammate on the training field. Ousmane Dabo came out of the skirmish without any lasting harm; the only punishment inflicted was directed at Barton. The 26-year old has been forbidden to play for 12 matches, six of those he’ll be suspended for. An additional six match ban has been threatened by the Football Association if Barton doesn’t behave himself til the end of next season, a trend the Newcastle player is not familiar with as his career has been full of disciplinary pitfalls. He has 14 days to appeal the decision made by the board, but has additionally been fined a total of ₤25,000.

The injury in the league this week is not nearly as interesting, but detrimental to Chelsea nonetheless. Michael Essien, midfielder, suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament this week that will take him out of game play for a few months at the least, say the medical team for the club. Most likely, the 25-year old will miss out on the UEFA Champions’ League group stage, scheduled from 16 September to 9 December. He suffered the hurt during Ghana’s World Cup qualifier against Libya. He has been scheduled for surgery within the week, pending the swelling of his knee.
